Version 2.8.0 gives form sections a full visual overhaul: styled titles, icons, rich-text instructions and collapsible sections, plus a new section navigation rail and progress indicators for the people filling out forms. Form designers also get save-time validation that catches setup problems before a form goes live.
Form Designer
Section titles and styling
- Section titles. Turn on Show Title to give a section its own title. You can set the title’s text, icon, color, weight (boldness) and alignment, and every change appears on the canvas right away.
- Title icons. Pick an icon from a visual dropdown that previews each option. The icon appears next to the section title.
- Rich-text section instructions. Turn on Show Instruction to add guidance under a section title. The editor supports bold, italic, underline, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, alignment, links and block quotes. You can also choose the instruction text color.
- Collapsible sections. Sections with a title can be made collapsible. You can also set them to Start Collapsed so long forms look shorter at first glance.
Adding sections
- Insert sections anywhere. Every section now has an Insert new section option at its foot, with 1 Column and 2 Column choices. The new section goes directly below the current one, so you no longer need to add it at the end and drag it into place.
- Smart defaults. New sections are titled automatically by position (Section 1, Section 2, …), and the properties panel opens so you can customize them right away. On forms that begin with a Header Cluster, numbering starts after the header.
- Clusters, Grids and Tab Containers are not given an automatic title.
- The 1 Column Section and 2 Column Section buttons at the bottom of the canvas still add a section to the end of the form.
Existing forms
Forms built before this release look exactly as they did before. Titles stay off on existing sections until you choose to turn them on.
Filling Out Forms
Section headers
- Section titles and instructions appear just as they were designed, with the same colors, icons, alignment and formatting.
- Expand and collapse. In collapsible sections, click anywhere on the title bar to expand or collapse the section.
Progress at a glance
- Required-field indicators. A section’s title bar shows how many required fields it still contains, for example ★ 3 required.
- Completion check. When every required field in a section is filled in, the indicator changes to a green ✓ Complete.
- Clear errors on submit. If a required field is missed, its section expands automatically and is highlighted in red, so the problem is easy to find even if the section was collapsed.
New section navigation
- Jump to any section. A navigation rail on the left side of the form has a button for each section. Each button shows the section’s icon or its number, and hovering over the rail shows the section titles.
- Go to Top. The first button always takes you back to the top of the form.
- Know where you are. As you scroll, the rail highlights the section you’re viewing. Each section’s button turns green when that section is complete.
- Opens collapsed sections. Selecting a collapsed section in the rail expands it and takes you straight to it.
- Stays accurate. Sections hidden by form conditions are left out of the rail, and the numbering stays in sequence.
- The navigation rail appears on larger screens. On smaller screens and mobile devices, the form keeps its compact layout.
